80s Theme Party
You may have been to an 80s theme party before. You may have seen lots of 80s related stuff from fashion to retro toys and games and snacks that were from that decade. But eventually, you had to go home, take off the leg warmers, put away the injury inducing toys and go back to modern day reality.
No fun!
Well now, you can relive those days whenever you want right here at the 80s Theme Party website. It’s small now, but eventually you will find a ton of things that will take you right back to the decade that focused on one person: ME! Or you, as the case may be. At any rate, it was the “Me Decade”, the decade of excess and the decade where generation x’ers had their childhood. The origin of such things as Rubik’s Cube, Cabbage Patch Kids, G.I. Joe, He-Man and a host of other crazy things. We’ll do our best to relive them all until we feel ourselves uttering that wonderful old phrase, “Gag me with a spoon!”
But we won’t stop there. We’ll keep this 80s Theme Party going at all hours of the day and night. There will be regular updates via our Throwback Thursday subscription and plenty of opportunity for you to tell us what you think, what you want to see and even relay your best and worst memories from that crazy decade. There will be things you had forgotten until visiting this site. You think the earworms of today are bad? Wait until you forced to hear some old favorites from the 80s. You’ll pray for sweet death.
Okay, so hopefully it won’t be that bad. In fact, it’s my intention to make it all good just like the tubular 80s where there was no such thing as too much of a good thing. The Snoopy Sno Cone Machine? I’ll show you how that little toy can be used for more fun than it was ever intended. Lite Brite? Prepare yourselves for insane doses of overdo-edness on that front. You’ll think you died and went to 80s excess heaven.
But seriously, I’m not here to beat a dead horse. And honestly I (like so many girls) just want to have fun. And 80s Theme Party is nothing more than a very public and grossly overrated outlet for that. I say overrated because I think it’s totally awesome. I may be the only one who thinks that but I don’t care. Another hallmark of the 80s exemplified.
As the owner of this website, I reserve the right to include the occasional item from the 70s or even the 90s. Just giving you fair warning before someone sees a post and shouts, “Haaaay! That’s not from the 80s!!!” It’s my website. If it fits with the theme and is fun, I will include it. Because I can. So there.
And lastly, this will also be the home of my own little Throwback Thursday (or Flashback Friday if I’m feeling lazy). My goal is to have a new post each Thursday and to let my followers know this when it happens. Want to be in the loop on this? Then sign up here!

The above video should be instantly recognizable. It is a shortened version of the very first images broadcast on MTV on August 1st, 1981 (for those of you keeping score, the 30 year anniversary of that event is coming in just a few days). This bumper became the hallmark of that channel for the duration of the decade. MTV pretty much decided what was cool and hip for the era leaving future networks to only try to be as cool. This includes present day MTV which is a pretty sad collection of tripe to say the least. However, since this is a brand new site kicking off, and since MTV was such a huge part of the 80s, I felt it an appropriate video to post on the front page.
So sit back, have fun at the 80s Theme Party and come back often. I’ll make sure you leave shaking your head in disbelief. Or disgust. Either way, it’s still worth the ride. Enjoy!
